Photo of the Day - Rehearsal Dinner

So here is today's Photo of the Day (even though they are quite a bit less than daily).

I shot this last night at a rehearsal dinner. The lighting conditions were quite a bit less than ideal (which I expected, but had hoped wouldn't happen), but the food, table settings, and people were all wonderful.

Congratulations to them on their wedding today!

The Body Parts @ Berkeley Rep

At some point a few years ago I stopped taking pictures at concerts. As of last night, that is no longer the case.

Last night I had the chance to see The Body Parts play on the Thrust Stage at Berkeley Rep. So I took myself, a friend, and my new 50mm f/1.8 lens to the show.

(Ryder Bach, Alina Cutrono, and Matt Sobel of The Body Parts)

While it would be fair to say the band is not for everyone (though what is really?) I quite enjoyed the show.

A Photo from LA - or - The Photo of the Day for 5/9/10

Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA

There were a few other shots that I uploaded on Facebook as well. Like I said before, as a whole, it ended up not being a terribly photography filled trip. Definitely a good one though.

Road Trip and other things

So I went on a road trip down to LA about a week ago. I had the grand plan that I would bring my camera and come back with all sorts of new shots, I came back with my camera, just as empty as when I left.

I had my point and shoot along, so there is in fact photographic evidence that the trip happened. I just never got around to actually using my camera. Funny how that works.

Completely unrelated to photography, one of my other loves is theatre. Most recently I have gotten to see "Concerning Strange Devices from the Distant West" and "Girlfriend" at Berkeley Rep. Both were amazing. The former was actually somewhat related to art and photography, among much more involving culture and perception. The latter a very cute, intimate love story about two gay teens set in early 1990's Nebraska. It is a musical based on the songs of Matthew Sweet. Prior to hearing about the show, I knew nothing of Matthew Sweet, kinda a nice discovery if you are in the mood for some well written sweet (no pun intended) pop music.

Often when I go to a play I wonder who took the pictures for the programs (or other promotional material) and how exactly that got that job... and can I have it?
